Fan selection should account for airflow requirements at operating point, acoustic limits, starting current at low temperature, and available mounting envelope.

400Hz AC fans are specified when the aircraft or platform provides 115VAC 400Hz power directly, eliminating the need for AC-to-DC conversion.
